Cosmetic Dentistry
In Today's world more and more people have become conscious about their smile.
Every day something or other is happening in the world of cosmetic density. We
are continuously learning and updating ourselves everyday to provide you the
latest available treatments.
Smile Design : At Oral Dental Home
we offer you the opportunity to design your smile before we proceed for
treatment. Taking consideration of your facial structures, lip line we explain
a treatment plan to you including options of treatment such as porcelain
veneers, whitening, crowns etc. After you are convinced & happy with it we
proceed to give you that million dollar smile.
Crowns : A dental crown often made
of porcelain (fused to metal) is used when tooth has been badly damaged due to
caries or some other reasons. It is also known as dental cap. Dental crowns are
tooth shaped coverings, made exactly same to that of natural tooth are placed
over the damaged tooth. Dental crowns are also used for badly discolored and
misshaped teeth.
Veneer & Bonding : These are
ideal solution for crooked, stained and chipped teeth. Help a lot in creating a
beautiful smile. Veneers are made of porcelain. They are thin coverings, which
is placed on the front surface of damaged teeth. They can be used as
faster solution of orthodontics because crooked teeth, spaced teeth can be
corrected instantly by using veneers. Veneers are also used to hide discolored
teeth.
Composite Bonding is a good solution to problem of small crack, gap and
discoloration. It is done in a single appointment and has great results.
Bonding material often used are various types of composites.
Bridges : Bridges are most
convenient way to replace missing teeth. For bridging purpose tooth should
present on either side of gap (missing teeth). Teeth on either side are used as
support and replaced teeth attached to them. Result is great giving you a
natural looking complete smile.
Dental Implants: : Dental implants
are popular way of replacing missing teeth these days. Dental implants are long
term solution for the patients who are tired of changing dentures &
bridges. Implants can be used to replace teeth, sometimes to retain full
dentures also.
Dental implants are substitute of tooth roots, resembling screws. These screws
are usually made of titanium or its alloy. They don't react to human tissue.
They are bonded to living bone structure of the jaw. Prosthetic crowns are
placed on the top of the implant to replicate missing teeth.
Overall, dental implants are lifelong solution for missing teeth.
Tooth Colored Restorations : In
the past, the aesthetic appearance of a filling was not much important. But
these days increasing awareness and advances in tooth colored and natural
looking cements e.g. composites allow us to get tooth colored filling which are
undetectable and functions are as good as that of metal fillings.
Teeth Whitening (Bleaching) : If
your smile is incomplete because of yellow stained dull teeth, we can help you
whiten and brighten your discolored teeth. There are two methods to it.
HOME
BLEACHING: Bleaching trays are made in the office and given to the patient
after instructing him/her about how to do it using bleaching gels on the tray.
One can bleach teeth at home, which requires number of applications for desired
result.
OFFICE
BLEACHING:Office bleaching is more convenient way to whiten your teeth. It
takes about an hour to get desired result. In this process, specially
formulated lightening agent is coated over the teeth. Results are good but a
little sensation might be felt on the teeth surface but it goes off within a
few days.
Orthodontic Treatment : Uneven and
crooked teeth affects both in appearance and function. Misbalance in bite can
cause TMJ problems and affects chewing also. Crowding of anterior can cause
severe periodontal problems.
Orthodontics can straighten teeth creating pleasing appearance and correcting
all the functional defects. In orthodontic treatment, braces are used to
straighten the teeth. These days even adults can have orthodontic treatment for
cosmetic purposes. Braces are available in different colors, even tooth colored
types which enhance your smile even during the treatment period.
Tooth Jewellery : Every body wants
to be extra ordinary in life in one way or other tooth jewellery is one of the
way to feel exactly that. Tooth jewellery gives you that extra sparkle in life
which makes you stand out among others.
Tooth jewellery consists of dental skyce and other sparkling stones which can
be used on the tooth surface. Dental Skyce is made under control of computer
automatic machinery and does not lose glitter with the laps of time. Other
stones which are used are also tried and tested and proven to be healthy and
beautiful. Sticking of tooth jewellery is absolutely harmless procedure and can
be done within few minutes. If you fill like taking it off in future, it can be
done easily within minutes that too without harming you tooth. That's why we
call it as a purely healthy way to enhance your smile.
Preventive and General Dentistry
Preventive Treatment: Regular
dental examinations help to prevent gum diseases, cavities and other problems.
Regular scaling and polishing can also prevent periodontal diseases, bone loss
etc, which subsequently prevents tooth loss. Thus one should visit to the
dentist for regular check ups and routine cleaning of teeth in order to have
a healthy smile.
Fluoride application is one of the forms of preventive dentistry. Fluoride
application once a year helps maintaining the strength of teeth. Children as
well as adults can have this treatment. Children with weak teeth such as
decayed, discolored teeth are highly recommended for fluoride application.
Regular fluoride application can reduce growing incidence of teeth decay.
General Treatments:
1. Scaling & Polishing (Dental
Prophylaxis) : Scaling is defined as procedure to remove soft deposits
(plaque), hard deposits (calculus) & stains form teeth. Removal of
supragingival and subgingival plaque & calculus help removal of
micro-organism along with them. Calculus removal from each pocket is done to
obtain a good healing response. This procedure cures bleeding gums, bad breath
and prevents tooth loss.
Polishing of teeth: Dental polishing is done after completion of scaling. The
purpose of polishing teeth surface is to make surfaces smooth which makes it
more difficult for plaque & debris to accumulate on your teeth. Polishing
is done using polishing paste and prophy cup which removes stains and make
tooth surface smooth. It is good to do polishing of teeth after every scaling.
2. Dental Fillings : When tooth
has carries, the decayed part is removed from the tooth and tooth is prepared
to get filled with filling materials. There are different types of fillings.
Light-Curve Composite (Tooth colored)
fillings : Material used is composite resin which is cured using light cure
machine. Matches well to natural tooth and also it is a good option
strength wise. Ideal for restoration of front teeth, broken teeth and even back
teeth
Amalgam : Material used is silver and
mercury which is self setting after they are mixed. Good strength & are
ideal for back teeth. Aesthetically not preferred. Given a choice these days,
composite resins are widely preferred.
Inlays/ On lays : Material used are metal
and ceramics for restoration of any teeth. Particularly back teeth. Strength is
good.
3. Extraction: Extraction is the
removal of a tooth or teeth that is non restorable, non-useful or sometimes
harmful to the patient.
Extraction is done under local anesthesia considering patient's other
systematic state.
Wisdom Teeth Removal:
When the mouth of an individual does not have enough room for wisdom teeth,
they start troubling you. So extracting them is best option to prevent further
infection & pushing of other teeth to wrong position.
4. Denture : A denture is a
removable replacement for missing tooth/ teeth. It is made of acrylic resin.
Sometimes it is made in combination of various metals.
a) Removable Partial Dentures: When patient is partially edentulous, this is a
simple solution for him/her since it is less costly and done in few
appointments. Cast partial dentures are another better option for partially
edentulous patients since they are more comfortable and durable. It consists of
metal plate, which makes denture much thinner & comfortable.
b) Complete Dentures : Complete Dentures are replacement for totally edentulous
patients. These replace all of upper and lower teeth. Generally made of acrylic
plates and acrylic teeth. Comfort depends on muscles, bones, tongue etc.
Actually one should become habituated to it by wearing it continuously even if
it is little uncomfortable in the beginning, even after adjustments. Once you
are used to it, works wonders for you making it easier for chewing, speaking
and the most importantly improving your look dramatically.
c) Metal + Acrylic Complete Dentures: These are easier types than that of full
acrylic dentures because these are thinner, lighter & more adopting to the
tissues. Since these consist of metal, they don't break easily providing you
longevity of your dentures. You can choose your type after consulting to the
dentist.
